Short Biography:
Ryder is Charlie’s older sister, and unlike Charlie she has her memories of both her, their family, and Charlie! Ryder, Charlie, and their best friend Becky all survived the sickness that swept over the country. Watching as those around them got sick, faded, died, and came back. Oddly enough the trio was immune and did not fall ill. Instead they found themselves having to put friends, family, and neighbors down to survive!
Ryder and Charlie were both born and raised in the small town of Woodstock, NH. The population there being under 2000, though those numbers did swell during the tourist months. Raised on a sprawling farm where they grew many crops including hay, sweet corn, many vegetables. They had horses, raised poultry, pigs, and other animals for food. They also had orchards where they grew apples, peaches, plums, concord grapes, and many other fine things that grew well in the region. They had a sugar shack and a grove of sugar maples, which they worked with during the spring when the sap flowed. Often hosting tours to teach of a craft that in some ways was dying out. Bee hives were kept to ensure their crops and trees got pollinated. That resulted in honey that could be harvested and sold as well. Becky often worked on their farm throughout the year and was like another of the Johnson brood! They were close like sisters, even though Ryder was the oldest of the trio.
Sadly their parents, grandparents, older, and younger brothers and sisters caught the virus which ended their lives, and brought them back. Walkers, being the dead zombies they are were able to migrate. Be it on two feet, or even crawling, they could move more than a human could because they no longer had those limits like humans have. Fatigue, pain, hunger, the need for sleep. Even a walker with no legs just kept creeping along! They remained holed up on the farm, living off the land until the migrating walkers numbers began to grow. They would up having to leave the safety of the farm, in fear it may become overrun with the growing hordes. Packing up all they needed in their vehicles they had begun to travel themselves in a small convoy.
It was during those travels they crossed paths with a much larger group of men and women, and a few children. Before the customs of a civilized society began to break down. Where neighbor helped neighbor. The group grew in numbers and as things like food, and water became scarce the way things went started to change. Both sexes grew hostile, and possessive. The collapse of civilized nature was well on its way. People got sick and died, with other maladies. Even if it was not the virus they learned the hard way the dead still came back. For a while life was all right within the group. But sometimes numbers had a way of working against you. With more mouths to feed, and food being scarce as it was, cannibalism became a thing with some of those of the group. People, especially children disappeared. Did they leave, or were they consumed!? Men started to fight over everything and that included the women. Women fighting amongst one another for the basics needed to sustain life.
Pecking orders rose through the ranks and only the strongest, and most ruthless made it to the top. Women became trophies, pets, prizes to be won, fought over and as humanities civilized nature corroded. Some woman took to their new roles rather willingly, those kind were in the minority, while others fought it tooth and nail, literally.
One night the men spiked the drinks they gave to the women, and when they awoke the next day their lives changed forever. Bound, gagged, and collared, to be fought over by the men. Each taking his prize, the trio was split up within the large group. Each having a different owner. Each forced into a life of a sex slave, a toy, someone’s pet. As time passed strife, and tension grew within the large group. Causing a rift, as it broke up into bands. The three women were separated, each forced to go with their “owner”.
Beaten, starved, and abused the women were on their own. As time passed some men tried to help the captives. An old man would try and feed and water the smallest of the trio, Charlie, tried to free her as well until he was kicked out. Though in time she escaped when two groups of raiders went to war, having left her for dead. When she came to, she started walking, traveling.
Becky was found, but it was too late for her. She had died due to the abuse, torture, and starvation. The man that found her, got her revenge for her though. Killing the few raiders that were left of that group, and giving her a decent burial, without her leash and collar.
Ryder was the one that was in captivity the longest, and her wasted body proves that much. But she was too damn stubborn to die, yet had grown too weak to fight back. Tobias, and Darius had found what was left of her group of raiders. Capturing her owner, and making it so she could dispatch him herself. They took out the remaining two for her. They have since brought her back, and she now lives with Darius. Slowly the healing of her body has begun. Though other things will take longer to heal.
