It is a testament to Aftermath's long-standing No Drama policy and the fact that 99.9679% of our room members are intelligent, well-behaved folk who come here for a good time, that I've never had to spell out what is self-explanatory - until now, of course.
Well, that's pretty clear, isn't it? If you have grief with someone, keep it out of the room. If they're in the room and you have no desire to interact with them in any fashion, use the literal or metaphorical ignore feature and roll on with your day.
We have a huge member base. Aftermath ends up being the watershed of the Vamp & Horror section, so to speak, a collection of many individuals who role-play throughout the section and trickle into this post-apocalyptic zombie-filled environment we love. With so many personalities and backgrounds, it is inevitable that some room members have had past or even present dealings with one another that have not made them the best of friends. And that's fine. We're a big enough room that not everyone has to interact with everyone else.
But we do all have to act like adults.
"Acting like an adult" does not include airing your issues behind the scenes in an attempt to poison the entire room against another room member, in the hopes said member will be so blacklisted and ignored that he/she stops playing. This is not junior high, and we are not twelve. If I ever receive concrete proof of anything like that going on, the perpetrator will be the one with an exit ticket.
"Acting like an adult" does not include making snarky little bullshit posts like, "Whelp, time to use the ignore button!" the instant someone you don't like sets foot in the room. That is not the proper interpretation of Rule #5. Ignore means ignore - promptly, silently, and without fanfare - not by making a veiled slam and THEN hitting ignore. If that's your approximate maturity level, do me a favor - hit the "Leave" button, instead, and forget where the "Enter" button is located.
Finally, "acting like an adult" does not include posts like these:
(01/22/13 20:31:30 ) razz | n.o.i.r - - - - - - - - - [PIC] r a z z | n o i r ...right. that works.. : You know what? FUCK all of you........i'm done with this shit. Goodbye.
(01/22/13 20:31:57 ) razz | n.o.i.r - - - - - - - - - [PIC] r a z z | n o i r ...right. that works.. : im not involved in this shit anymore. have a nice night
Yeah, that one definitely broke the "keep your issues out of the room" clause. -smiles- I don't even care what "shit" she was talking about. No one disrespects my room, my room members, my little piece of sanity this way.
She was right - she was done, and it was goodbye. I reported her, and she got banned because she was already on thin ice for previous misbehavior in other rooms. It was nothing personal, insomuch as I would report anyone who thinks to disrupt our home in such a way. By the way, she's running around saying that Ella was the culprit in her banning. Nope, that'd be me.
-winks-
Bottom line: I become a mama bear when it comes to this room, and I've had the same no bullshit policy since day one. I've just never had to spell it out, because any previous issues have been handled completely behind the scenes and out of the room, the way they should be, and because - again - 99.9679% of our room members already get it. The other less than .1% can just get gone!
Rule 5: Keep the drama llama in the pen. If you have a personal issue with another role-player, please handle said issue outside the room and/or put the offending party on ignore. If you cannot do so, you will be eaten by a zombie or find a stray bullet. Oops.
