This thread will help us keep track of how many cattle we have in New Haven, both for meat and dairy. This will be updated as calves are birthed and animals are butchered.
In general, the New Haven cattle will not be individually named, pictured, and given "biographies" like our horses, particularly if they are intended for food consumption. That said, breeding stock and dairy cattle will stay off our plates until they have outlived their usefulness, so anyone wishing to build a full "biography" for a pet cow is welcome to do so, and I will be glad to post it.
However, as far as Selsie is concerned, the Beefmasters she helped bring back from Pennsylvania are named Sirloin, T-Bone, Ribeye, Hamburger, Fillet, Mignon, Porterhouse, Steak, Tips, Beef, and ItsWhatsForDinner. Oh, and... Chuck. Mmmm, cow.

From Darlene Wayne:
10 Miniature Jersey cows (4 birthed spring '15, 6 producing) 2 miniature Jersey bulls 2 Miniature Jersey heifers
1 Miniature Dutch Belted bull 13 Miniature Dutch Belted cows (6 birthed spring '15, 7 producing)
(Cows and bulls are named and are pets. They've been through heck and back with Darlene -- but make no mistake... named or not, pets or not, when they're no longer able to provide milk or have outlived their ability to father calves, they'll be enjoyed as a tasty, well-tended repast for the Community).

Remaining from Rocky's 40 after the Walker / Rager attack:
1 – Big red bull that will follow you around like a puppy dog for cow cubes 2 – Steer 10 – Heifers, pregnant 1 – Heifer, not pregnant – lost calf during the walker attack & Rocky has segregrated from the bull to give her an Estrus cycle to make sure there was no undetected damage 1 – Heifer, not pregnant (yet) 4 – Heifer calves, < 1 year 6 – Bull calves < 1 year
Rocky will evaluate all the Bull calves when they arrive and determine which bulls she wants to keep. Ideally, she'll keep a total of 4 bulls to give some genetic diveristy. So, two of those little boys get to keep their boys.
